foodservice education & training

The Foodservice Education and Training Program is designed to provide clients with the skills necessary to gain employment in the foodservice industry. This program is 12 weeks and teaches foodservice as well as life skills classes.

Students in the program learn in a classroom setting and get hand on experience in the commercial kitchen here at Centerforce. Students may also have the opportunity to participate in production work and customer services for our Hometown Dogs Food Truck.

Examples of Successful Foodservice Placements

Gordon C

Gordon came to Centerforce homeless and struggling for some of life’s necessities. He did not collect SSI and was unsure of the process or if he even qualified. He still currently receives limited food stamps but puts that money directly into his tamale business. He sells them for $1.25 each in front of an O’Reillys Auto Store in Lakewood on the weekends. This was his only source of income. Gordon began the Foodservice program at Centerforce in October 2014. Since then, Centerforce has assisted Gordon in obtaining a food handler’s card, an email account, a bank account and an updated resume. Gordon is a very motivated individual and has achieved many great things since joining the Centerforce family. In December 2014, Gordon graduated from the program and due to his is perseverance, hard work and dedication, Gordon is the first Centerforce client employed on the Hometown Dogs food truck!
